Workshop Description
Helen Sanderson is well-known for her insights about personalised service delivery, and for her generous sharing of the person-centred tools she and her associates developed.
In 2016, Helen shifted direction and established a new enterprise. Wellbeing Teams offer a novel style of care in 5 locations around England, as well as professional development for other services.
Similar to ths Dutch neighbourhood care organisation, Buurtzorg, Wellbeing Teams focus on the people they support. They describe themselves as ‘a radical new model for delivering care and support within communities’ characterised by:
- small teams of no more than a few people
- self-managing – everyone is trained and supported to do this well
- values-led at every step, from recruitment to service delivery
- led by co-production, putting the people they support in control of their services
- focused on wellbeing, both of the people they support and team members
This workshop is brought to you by Purpose at Work. Newly formed ourselves, we are proud to bring you insights into what has motivated Helen’s change of direction and her reflections about making it work. On the day, Yumi Stamet, Alan Hough and Caroline Alcorso will speak on the why and how of self-organising teams in the Australian context.
